Additional exercise

Compare the Kakdu LDS fire frequency with that of the neighbouring West Arnhem Land Fire Abatement (WALFA) Project. This was the first region in Australia .

This indigenous ranger run project involves strategic and planned burning of savanna areas in the high rainfall zone during the early dry season to reduce the risk of late dry season wild fires.

Load the Savanna_Burning_Project_Areas_2018.shp file in the Savanna Burning Projects folder.

Select the (WALFA) Project covering the Arnhemland escarpment country east of Kakadu. Save this as a new file and use it to conduct the same LDS fire history analysis that we conducted with Kakadu.

In excel create comparative graphs showing the amount of proportion of country burnt at each fire frequency level for WALFA and Kakadu.
